The blessings of the sufi saint, Sheikh Salim Chishti to have the birth of a male child and victory in Gujrat prompted emperor Akbar to built his new capital, Fatehpur Sikri - the city of victory. As a gratitude for his blessings, Akbar gave the name of the Saint to his son and called him Salim – who later became the 4th Emperor of the Mughal Dynasty with the name Jahanghir. Built on a stony ridge using red sandstone, Fatehpur Sikri lies richly enveloped in local folklore and presents itself as an amazing reflection of Akbar’s respect for all the religions, hence his tolerant character. The palaces, the mosque- hosting the tomb of the Saint and the biggest door of India attract the attention of each and every traveler .
